Overview
Wastrel Studio produced a branded content campaign for OpenTable featuring Chef Dominique Crenn for Woman’s Day 2026 and beyond — the first female chef in the United States to earn three Michelin stars — filmed on location at Atelier Crenn in San Francisco, CA. Named one of TIME's 100 Most Influential People in 2024 and known for her Netflix Chef's Table appearance and her role as culinary consultant on the film The Menu, Chef Crenn brought an infectious joy and generosity to the shoot, sharing stories of her Breton roots, her philosophy of "poetic culinaria," and the deeply personal journey behind her Bay Area restaurants. The project was produced in collaboration with Good Problem, the creative agency led by Lukas Kaiser alongside Turnt Agency (Darren Smith) who lead all Broll of the amazing restaurant.
Our Role
Wastrel Studio served as the production lead on the project, with founder Oaday Awadalla handling all on-set execution and creative delivery:
- Cinematography & Lighting – Set up all cameras and designed the full lighting package inside a working fine-dining restaurant, coordinating around active service prep at Atelier Crenn in San Francisco
- Photography – Served as the on-set still photographer, capturing behind-the-scenes and portrait imagery of Chef Dominique Crenn
- Interview Production – Produced a long-form cinematic sit-down interview, later transcribed and cleaned for editorial use
- Additional B-Roll – Darren Smith of Turnt Agency captured supplementary b-roll sequences that rounded out the visual package
- Post-Sync – Handled audio and media syncing in post, ensuring all multi-camera and audio sources were aligned and organized for the editorial team
